Jenny Kendler is an American artist, environmental activist, and naturalist whose interdisciplinary practice is deeply engaged with the urgent crisis of biodiversity loss and ecological collapse. As a Research Associate at the Field Museum, her work is rigorously informed by scientific inquiry. Kendler uses a diverse range of media, including delicate sculptures crafted from ethically sourced natural materials, large-scale installations, and participatory public actions that often serve as advocacy tools for animals. Her projects frequently create the opportunity for empathy to bloom, aiming to make the often-invisible processes of extinction and climate change palpable and emotionally resonant for a human audience. Furthermore, her work provides a voice and a perspective to non-human beings, from birds and insects to corals and plants, thus challenging the power dynamic between human and nature.
